A compact, sturdy desk that folds flat for small spaces.
I’m building a space-saving standing desk that folds flat and can be stored behind a door or under a bed. It’s made from plywood and simple hardware, and designed for small apartments. Current prototype works well, but I’m stuck on the hinge design—looking for ideas on a more durable and elegant solution.

You might also look into folding shelf brackets like these. They’re super sturdy and designed for exactly this kind of use.

Love this project! One thing to consider is adding a magnetic catch to keep it folded when stored.

Have you considered using a piano hinge? It’s strong, inexpensive, and would distribute the load well. I used one on a similar project and it held up great!
